Early this year you may be aware that we officially started out outdoor nursery in the secret garden.
We are now pleased to announce that Amy has now successfully completed her Forest School Level 3 qualification, which enables us to provide Forest school activities to the children; this will include whittling sticks, knot tying, den making, knife skills and activities round the camp fire.
All the activities are age appropriate and are carried out with a strict safety procedure in place. These activities can only be carried out with the children, under the supervision of the qualified Forest school level 3 staff.
The team consists of Jenny who is working towards the Forest School Level 3 and Alex who has Level 3 Childcare and Education.
The Forest school nursery gives children the freedom to explore and be creative in the great outdoors, while learning and developing their skills. They follow the same curriculum as the rest of the nursery (EYFS) but being outdoors gives it a whole different feel and atmosphere. Studies show all children, boys in particular, flourish outside and benefit from the larger more open space.
The nursery carries appropriate Forest school insurance and all the staff are paediatric first aid trained, with Jenny and Amy having the additional Forest school first aid qualification.
“The ethos of Forest Schools is to allow children the time and space to develop skills, interest and understanding through a range of activities which provide practical, hands-on experiences in a natural environment. The Forest School ethos is embedded in our Forest School
