DfE Early Years Extended Entitlements Update
The Childcare Service System is now live for parents with children up to the age of 4. This means that parents wishing to access the extended free childcare from September 2017 can now apply for the extended entitlement using this system. Here is a link to the online Childcare Service: https://childcare-support.tax.service.gov.uk/par/app/applynow
The online checker is now available so parents can find out if they are entitled to the extended free childcare offer for 3 and 4 year olds
Parents who will be eligible for the extended entitlement MUST act NOW if they want to be able to access the extended entitlement from September 2017. All childcare providers and schools need to urgently direct parents to the Childcare Support website, Childcare Choices and the Childcare Calculator to learn more about which offers might be best for them, whether they’re likely to be eligible, and how to apply.
Parents MUST apply, as soon as possible, to have a place in September 2017 as they MUST do this in the term their child is turning three per the section below on page 10 of the DfE’s recent operational guidance document. Parents may receive eligibility codes before their child is three but children can only start claiming their extended hours place the term following the child’s third birthday or the term following the date the eligibility code was issued (whichever is the later). Parents can also submit a telephone application by calling 0300 123 4097.
You can use the DfE’s 30 Hours Eligibility Guide to help parents understand if they’re eligible for the extended entitlement. You can download a copy at: https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/30-hours-free-childcare-eligibility.
Please direct parents to the Childcare Choices website if they’re not sure where to apply for 30 hours. https://www.childcarechoices.gov.uk/
