Today the Owls had a special visit from ‘Zoo Lab’. They brought along with them a variety of mini beasts, including Gary the giant African snail, Max the millipede, a cockroach called Samantha, also a snake, scorpion, a mouse and a frog.
The handler talked to the children about the animals, telling them how old they were, things they liked to eat and where they lived. Some of our children were very brave and even held them in their hands. Well done Owls!!
Parent testimonial in regards to Forest School:
I just want to say how much we think Emily has come on with her doing the Forest School lessons.
She seems to have really grown in confidence and always talks about what Paul has been teaching them each week.
I have spoken to Chelsie and Amy about it quite a lot and it does sound really good. I think it would be great if these lessons could be continued and seeing how enthusiastic Chelsie and Amy are, it would be great if they could deliver some elements of the lessons in the future.
At the Woodlands Day Nursery we really value outdoor play and our fantastic garden offers lots of space to learn and grow. The garden has been completely refurbished with a soft rubber surface and artificial gross for durability. Within the garden children we have a builders site, mud kitchen and sensory garden with meadow flowers in Spring. A lovely space to sit and enjoy the garden or read a book or watch the frogs and insects. A vegetable patch gives children the opportunity to grow fruit and vegetables and learn about healthy eating.
